Our kids are very dark beyond their age.

They made us gagged ,gooped and gasped.

Extreme bullying, rape and murder are common happenings in school today

to the horror of our nation.

Ko kenape dik?

Arwah mak nengok kegiatan ko!

It seem the light ain’t shinning through.

The school is no longer safe place for them to learn and nurture themselves into adulthood .

Now they might not even make it past the high school.

Yes , teenage years is indeed hard where the majority findings themselves and many are confused or rebellious but should never to a point of becoming criminals.

We as society have failed the children.

We are screwed.

Where did we go wrong?

I personally think it goes back to what happened at home.

Home sweet home or for some unfortunate the hell on earth.

Huge responsibility lies on the parents as theoretically the kids spend most of their time at home.

We have the opportunity to make it right every time we spend our time with them.

Realistically the school the teachers can only do so much.

Do we loved them?

Do we care about them?

Do we even talk to them?

Good parenting likely to yield good children.

Bad parents neglected their kids deprived their basic needs and eventually turned them into bad apples or worst monsters/ hantu.

Love them enough so they understand the beautiful language of love and compassion.

Majority are understandably working parents and time is a major constraint but one could argue if it’s really because the lack of time or simply because they not important enough to us.

We prioritise and make time for them because we genuinely loved and cared for them.

I don’t have children but I had the privileged to be a son.

I was heavily bullied in boarding school and what I really wanted was somebody that I could talk to which I had hoped come from my parents.

Secondly, we have to protect the children.

CCTV , personality classes as recommended by ministers are reasonable but another very important consideration is to ban smartphone use and social media for those under 13 years of age and preferably those under 17 years of age as well.

As mellenial , we didn’t have smartphone back then and the climate was a lot calmer. Social media is doing a lot more harm than good so it’s our duty to protect our treasure to safeguard them from being corrupted by the social media. A lots of misinformations, negative contents, online bullying, violence and porn easily accessible online via smartphone and social media. Social media aren’t real life depiction with questionable heavily manufactured contents leading to false idea and outlook on life. The youngsters also lack the capacity and maturity to handle the AI powered socia media which is susceptible to malicious acts such as brainwashing and deepfakes. The Australians enacted the law prohibiting minors from using social media and the Danish empowered its citizen with protective law against deepfake. We surely have to be as proactive and protective.

Take the lessons from us the mellenials who lived through the peak of social media and now coming to term and living with the mess.

To the young Gen Z , we love you but no phone no porn no social media for you.
