Ramadhan kareem!

Its the first day in the holy month of ramadan where the billions of muslim are fasting.

Fasting during ramadan is one of the main pillars in Islam and the majority loved it.

The humbling day long fasting, the lovely bazaar, the much awaited Iftar feast and the taraweeh prayer after.

The number one dont or haram which everybody very sensitive and particular with is of course the no pork rule.

We somehow wishy washy on the rest of the do and don't in Islam.

All is maybe okay depending on the preference.

It's been good while since I did Ramadan which was in the summer ages ago when I was student in Dublin.

It was tough one as the fasting went on forever before we had the break/iftar around 2100-2200 in the evening.

The ramadan vibe was meh.. obviously as the majority are non muslim and my days were either busy with classes or work.

I did have memorable time going to Dublin Mosque for the group Iftar with our muslim brothers from all over the world and tasted the best chicken bryiani ever.

It was a lot harder to keep up with ramadan abroad and over time I fall out of love.

While am not fasting as am honouring my renewed beliefs and values I do respect for those who are.

This is your training month.

Fasting itself if done right is the great opportunity to cultivate patience, self control , kindness and compassion to others.

There is long list of don't to follow and there just too many temptations to break them.

It's not easy going on with your life hungry and thirsty when the day is roasting hot.

One is also expected to discipline the eyes the tongue and the body being mindful to what we see ,say and do.

Physically, fasting is the chance to be the better you healthier and fitter. Theoretically you be eating a lot less during ramadan but this usually a joke as many lost the control turning into binge eating after the break as they been starving all day which likely cancel out any potential health benefits.

Some wasted on too much food which go against the beautiful ramadan where we are thankful to what we have and remember those who are less fortunate than us.

Don't be the one fasting for nothing.

Again, eid mubarak to all.

May you find the baraqah/meaning in this ramadan and have a lovely one.
