I promised to study at least one new thing a day , anything just for fun.

Long gone since I did neuro anatomy in the second year of medical school and today I learnt about amygdala again, the almond shaped structures next to hippocampus situated in the temporal lobes.

Just like duality , one on each side of the brain.

Small in structure but it’s the powerhouses that control our emotions , fear, anxiety , joy and happiness.

Abnormalities in amygdalae are linked to depression , anxiety , ADHD and PTSD.

As part of the limbic system,it sits next to hippocampus which is important for memory. Emotionally charged events are more memorable and overstimulation of charged memory lead to PTSD.

Fear is unpleasant emotions from a perceived danger or threat. It is pivotal for survival and fear response can be divided into 4

  1. Fight - If the brain perceived the body can overcome the stimuli

  2. Flight- Run

  3. Freeze- Remains still until the danger pass

  4. Fawn- People pleasing .

Fear is protection but can also be the hindrance.

The fear that we afraid of could be the getaway to the opportunities and growth.

As for me, one of my biggest fear was losing/quitting my job for the very obvious reason.

Thankfully, I have been very much guided and the path becomes clearer as I embracing my journey.

I initially planned to continue working until the end of term in July, however, during my last on call duty I had this very unpleasant smell coming from the emergency area.

At that moment ,I knew am done, am not feeling it anymore, i didn't wanna come back to the same place or job.

I have been there static far too long.

Prior to quitting my job I had 3 magical blessings which I cant quite put my head around.

3 of my rostered on calls were strangely covered by my colleagues without any prior swaps done.

I was reading and learning a bit about manifestation .

How one can manifest anything we desire if done right..

I simply had those normal before calls thoughts and wishes of not wanting to be on call.

I still attended the handover to collect the oncall bleep as I wasn’t sure if my wishes succeeded.

I was beyond surprised when my colleagues took the bleep not just one call but 3 calls!

Another beautiful manifestation was when I wanted out from one Saturday call but I was hesitant to ask this particular friend because I said no to his request before.

He was sort of pissed with me and surely wouldn’t be granting me any favour .

Guess what?

He himself asked me to swap calls for my Saturday!

Magic does exist!

If you crippled or feeling overwhelmed , consider doing this simple yet very powerful mindfulness breathing techniques , 8,8,8 or 4,7,8.

This manuevre will deactivate the amygdala hijack, fire on the parasympathetic nerve and reduce the stress hormones.

I personally prefer the 8,8,8 one .

Start by closing your eyes.

Slow deep inspiration through the nose over 8 secs.

Slow expiration through the mouth for another 8 secs.

Another slow deep inspiration through the nose over 8 secs.

Repeat until you feel the difference and you will .

One day I was insanely horny after smoking.

In that moment of torture I said to god what should I do ?

And then I remembered this breathing technique so I did it again and again.

I cannot believe that the overwhelming horny sensation just disappeared and even with porn still playing, the desires completely gone.

And wasn't horny anymore even after I had few more smokes after that.

I went for mcDonals instead.

I was so amazed how easy but yet very powerful this technique is .

It really did the job.

Funny or cheeky me the next time when I was smoking,I intentionally ignored the breathing technique so I could enjoy the insane torture ( being mad horny) .

I know am one of a kind.
